Dr. King was born at the old Wellesley Hospital and was raised in Toronto. He graduated for Earl Haig S.S. in North York in 1985. Before medical school, Dr. King attended Queen's University in Kingston, Ontario and he went on to graduate form the University of Toronto medical school in 1991. Dr. King completed his training in General Surgery at U of T in 1996 and joined the Royal College that fall. Dr. King spent a year as a clinical fellow at St. Joseph's Health Centre and then spent six months in the United Kingdom as a travelling fellow training in advanced laparoscopic surgery, particularly as applied to colorectal surgery.

Dr. King has been a member of the staff at the Etobicoke Campus of the William Osler Health Centre since 1998. His clinical practice includes all aspects of general surgery but focuses on minimally invasive surgery. Dr. King is also active in colon cancer screening as a member of the Ontario Colonoscopy Clinics. As a member of the Department of Surgery at the University of Toronto, Dr. King's role is focused on the training of senior surgical residents.

Away from the work place, Dr. King is kept busy with three active children. In his spare time he enjoys the outdoors and is an avid sports fan (Go Leafs, Go Steelers!).
