Dr. Robert Mustard graduated in medicine from the University of Western Ontario in 1977. After residency training in Toronto he obtained his Fellowship in 1982. Following two years of research, in London Ontario with Dr. John Duffy, he joined the staff of the Wellesley Hospital in General Surgery in 1984. In 2000, he moved to St. Michael's Hospital as part of the hospital merger program.

Dr. Mustard specialized in surgical critical care and in particular in the surgical care of patients with complicated disorders such as severe pancreatitis and enterocutaneous fistulea.
